Valley View authorizes new bucket truck purchase and multiple public-works contracts

The Valley View village council on April 1 approved a slate of public-works purchases and contracts, including authorizing a new bucket truck purchase (replacement for a 1996 unit) not to exceed $699,000 and awarding multiple engineering and construction proposals.

Finance presented the bucket-truck item and the council approved a motion to purchase a new unit from MTech Company or Axion Lift Company, with a not-to-exceed price of $699,000. Council discussion noted comparable used trucks being considered from other sellers (one cited at about $169,000 and another at about $139,000), but the recorded motion authorized the NTE $699,000 purchase; the motion passed on a recorded roll call.

The council also approved several engineering and construction items recommended by the village engineer: a contract with Independent Cement for 2025 catch-basin reconstruction on various streets in the amount of $6,350; a change order for the Fosic Road bridge replacement project for EEX Inc. not to exceed $116,000; and two Alexander Road preconstruction utility-improvement packages (Part A for $71,500 and Part B for $63,600) with local contractors. The council also accepted a proposal for 2025 concrete pavement repairs at the Valley View Safety Center from Valley View Cement in the amount of $683.

All listed motions were seconded and passed by recorded roll calls during the meeting. Where motion origins were recorded, votes listed council members including Jacob Zack, Paulson, Wilson, Wyatt and the member listed as “spe” voting yes.
