Oregon School District board approves consent calendar, accepts retirements and cancels two summer meetings

Board President Troy Pankratz called the May 11, 2026, meeting of the School Board of the Oregon School District to order and the board approved its consent calendar, which included payments totaling $1,451,534.42, staff resignations and retirements, staffing assignments and donations.
Dr. Mary Lokuta moved to approve the consent calendar and Nathan Hensal seconded. In a roll call vote, Dr. Lokuta, Mr. Hensal, Heather Garrison and Mr. Pankratz voted yes and the motion carried 4-0. President Troy Pankratz congratulated Andrew Weiland and Jim Snow on their announced retirements and thanked community donors for their contributions.
The consent calendar recorded three staff departures: Andrew (Andy) Weiland, business manager at the district office, announced retirement effective Aug. 31, 2026, after 27 years of service; Jim Snow, 1.0 FTE custodian at RCI, retirement effective July 10, 2026, after 29 years; and Kara Schaller, general music teacher at PVE, resignation effective June 12, 2026. The board also approved multiple staffing assignments, including new hires and reassignments for kindergarten, counseling, and grade-level teaching positions.
The board accepted several donations listed on the consent calendar: Oregon Athletic Boosters—$479.72 for lacrosse supplies and $3,095 for general athletic support; $15,000 from the Oregon Athletic Boosters for wrestling mats; $14 from Melissa Shatku for food-service balances; and $350 from the Oregon Choral Boosters for FES music.
