Mayor Crowe opened the May 18 meeting by sharing a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month and urged council members to take advantage of professional development opportunities. The mayor specifically encouraged attendance at an upcoming Robert's Rules presentation offered by the League of Wisconsin Municipalities.
Administrator Atkinson echoed the mayor's encouragement that members use City funds set aside for training and educational opportunities. Alderperson Yonko offered a brief personal note thanking the community for support following the death of her father, Dennis Spader.
Separately, Alderperson Hargrove shared a press release with council members calling on elected officials to support efforts for UW Health and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to resume gender-affirming care for minors. The minutes record the sharing of that press release but do not show any formal council action in response during the meeting.
