Council approves liquor license for downtown ‘Roost on Maine’

The City of Chadron council voted unanimously to approve Resolution 2026-45 recommending a Retail Class C (beer, wine and spirits, on- and off-sale) liquor license for C's and Bees LLC doing business as Roost on Maine at 164 Main Street after a public hearing in which applicant Sheena Wright described renovation plans and an intended July 4 opening date.
The City of Chadron on a unanimous vote approved Resolution 2026-45 recommending a Retail Class C beer, wine and spirits license for C’s and Bees LLC doing business as Roost on Maine at 164 Main Street.
At a public hearing, applicant Sheena Wright said she and her husband moved to Chadron about four years ago and are renovating the existing downtown business; she told the council the interior remodel is underway, they hold a temporary permit but have not begun alcohol sales, and they are targeting a July 4 opening pending arrival of fixtures. “We do have the temporary permit right now, but we haven't started selling anything because we're doing a remodel on the inside,” Wright said.
Police representation at the hearing raised no objections. Rick Kickstie of the Chadron Police Department said he had no comments and welcomed the new owners to the downtown neighborhood.
After the hearing was closed, the council introduced and took roll-call votes on Resolution 2026-45. The motion carried with Alexi, Anderson, Klein, Shepard and Graves voting yes.
The council’s vote is a local recommendation; state licensing authorities make the final decision for Class C on- and off-sale licenses. The applicant said the council’s approval will be forwarded to the state for final issuance.
If the state issues the license, Roost on Maine plans to begin with a modest menu (hot sandwiches) and operate as a sports-bar style establishment, expanding offerings later. The council did not attach conditions beyond standard licensing procedures and reliance on the police chief’s review.
