The Westbrook City Council approved a liquor license for Happy Wheels Skate Center (84 Warren Ave., Unit K) after a brief public hearing during the June 1 meeting.
Taylor, who identified themself as an owner and operator of Happy Wheels, told the council the business has been in Westbrook for four years and asked to add alcohol service to the menu for adult patrons. "We're here now though... we just obviously wanna add it to our menu and offer it to adults," Taylor said.
Councilors praised the center as a family‑oriented recreation resource and highlighted programming such as low‑cost skate nights for children. Mayor David Morse said his family uses the facility and described the program as an "incredible resource." The council approved the license by roll call, 6‑0.
The applicant said the license will be used in a manner consistent with existing youth‑oriented programming; the council heard no public opposition during the hearing.
