City manager reports progress and delays on city building, splash pad and water tower

City Manager Nichols gave a multi-item update on the new municipal building and related projects.
Nichols said prefabrication panels are being installed on the northwest end of the building and that steel erection is tentatively scheduled for late April or early May. He reported that the water-main testing has passed and that the main is nearly tied into the existing Centennial Run Boulevard system. He said electrical conduits were delayed by "Duke" and that engineers are working with that utility so the contractor can complete curb and paving connections.
On off-site improvements Nichols said a north-side turn lane is under construction, three storm-pipe extensions and headwalls are being installed, and that stormwater revisions are completed so basin connections can proceed. He said the splash pad concrete pad is formed and tentatively scheduled for pour pending an inspection. For the elevated water tower he described ongoing stem-wall reinforcement, door support rebar work and upcoming wall penetrations for piping.
"Please keep in mind that this project is a 500 day process... it is going to be a slow-moving project due to the complexity of being over 200 ft tall and getting it vertical safely," Nichols said.
Nichols also asked for an executive session for confidential economic-development and compensation matters consistent with a statutory provision. No specific budget amendments or contract awards were approved during the work session.
