Township delays permit approval pending homeowner association sign-off; board reviews bills and adjourns

Board members agreed to ask the homeowner association for approval and to have the township solicitor prepare draft verbiage before the township issues its zoning permit.

At one point a member clarified the township’s process: “We do not do building permits. We do zoning permits,” and asked staff to ensure documents and language reflect zoning-permit requirements rather than a building-permit reference. Another member said to let staff member Chris prepare the precise wording to bring back at the next meeting.

During the bills review, a participant explained that the BWC program-administration charge shown in the bills is presented as several line items because it is split across payroll classifications; the charge functions as the manager of workers’ compensation claims, not as an insurance premium per se, and the funds for those charges are drawn from the General Fund. The item was questioned because it was displayed as multiple program lines; the speaker said totals roll up to the reported amount stated in the meeting record.

No formal zoning action or permit approval occurred at the meeting; instead the board set a process step: seek homeowner-association approval and have the solicitor draft wording for the next meeting.

At the meeting’s close, members moved and seconded adjournment. The clerk called the roll and the record shows affirmative responses from Maggie Clark, Bob Cook, Stephen Coughlin, Holly Nance, Kermit and Joyce Wethington; the meeting was adjourned.
