Roaming Shores reports lift-station pump failures; village plans full monitoring for 29 stations by summer

Public works officials told the Roaming Shores council that both pumps at lift station 14 East failed over a recent weekend following brownouts and were sent out for repair.
"We had four call outs over the weekend," the public-works presenter said, adding that both pumps were removed for repair and staff connected a life-support generator (referred to as a "godlin") to keep the station operating. Replacement pumps are not available on local shelves; staff estimated lead times of three to six weeks or possibly longer.
Council also heard a plan to expand remote monitoring. Staff said 11 sites are currently monitored by Vector Security; the village contracted with Security Technologies to retrofit additional stations and hopes to have all 29 lift stations monitored by late spring. The monitoring will provide alarm and diagnostic information so crews can respond with the correct equipment and reduce emergency callouts.
No formal motion was taken. Council members asked staff to prioritize completing hardware installations and pushing monitoring online before the summer season.
