"They're going to ask us to extend the moratorium so they have time to work on it and get it finalized," the Town Manager said. No members of the public offered opposition during the hearing.
The moratorium was originally adopted as a pause while staff and the planning board draft a replacement regulatory framework. The extension preserves the status quo for 180 days and, according to the manager, prevents new junkyard permits from being approved while the planning board completes its work. The selectboard recorded a motion, a second and an affirmative vote to adopt the extension.
The board did not set a date to remove the moratorium; planning staff will report back when the planning board completes its draft or requests further time.
