On Sept. 24, 2024, the Salem Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Resolution 26-2024 authorizing a grant application to the Commonwealth Funding Agency for a Category 4 Facilities Local Share Assessment grant to fund Seanor Park maintenance equipment.
Supervisor Ken Trumbetta moved the resolution; Supervisor Kerry Jobe seconded the motion. The board discussed vendor quotes for a smaller 24-by-28 storage shed and a larger 40-by-40 shed, and for two mower options. The board decided to seek funding for the larger shed (quoted at $64,780) and the larger mower, making a total grant request of $78,690.28. Officials stated that if the award is for a lesser amount, the township would commit the balance from Act 13 funds or other local sources.
The motion passed on a unanimous vote: Supervisors Bob Zundel, Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voted in favor. The minutes show Secretary Kelly Otto recorded the action and the meeting adjourned at 11:17 a.m.
The resolution authorizes the township to apply for the specific Category 4 Facilities Local Share Assessment grant and designates an agent to act on behalf of the township for matters related to the grant, and approves execution and submission of pro forma documents in furtherance of the application. The board did not set an award contingency timeline during the meeting; next steps will be submission of the application and awaiting the Commonwealth Funding Agency’s decision.
The board set its next regular supervisor meeting for Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
