Tama County supervisors certify June 2 primary results; turnout totals confirmed

The Tama County Board of Supervisors voted June 9 to certify the results of the June 2, 2026, Primary Election, approving Resolution 6-09-2026A that documents turnout and the nominees chosen in contests wholly within Tama County.

Supervisor David Turner, 2nd District, moved to approve the certification; Supervisor Curt Kupka, 5th District, seconded. The resolution states that 1,975 people voted at the polls on election day and 231 absentee ballots were accepted for counting, for a total of 2,206 votes. The board approved the resolution in a roll call vote recorded as Supervisors Curt Hilmer, David Turner and Curt Kupka voting aye. Supervisors Mark Doland and Heather Knebel were recorded as having left the meeting prior to that vote.

The resolution lists nominees chosen by voters in contests located wholly within Tama County: Republican County Supervisor District 2 — David W. Turner; Republican County Supervisor District 3 — Heather Knebel; Republican County Recorder — Amelia Kemper; Republican County Attorney — Brent Heeren. The document also notes several offices for which no candidates were nominated in one or both parties (the resolution text lists those offices and that no candidates were nominated).

The board approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session on a motion by Turner, seconded by Kupka; that procedural vote was recorded as unanimous among those present. County Auditor Karen Rohrs is listed on the resolution as the certifying official. The minutes state that a copy of the certified results is available in the Tama County Auditor’s Office.
