Wood-Ridge Board honors students, teachers and retiring staff at year-end meeting

The Wood-Ridge Board of Education concluded its end-of-year meeting by recognizing dozens of student and staff achievements and honoring retiring employees.
Board members presented certificates to May and June students of the month from Doyle School, Woodridge Intermediate School and Woodward Junior–Senior High School, with winners cited for world-language, performing-arts, perseverance and academic achievement. Alexis Santana received a formal certificate as the district’s 2025–26 student board representative. "Your reports have been phenomenal," the presenter said while presenting Santana’s resolution.
The board also read retirement resolutions. Mrs. Maria Manda, the district’s longtime school nurse, was honored for 25 years of service and for a retirement effective July 1, 2026; administrators noted an earlier presentation had been made to Mrs. Denise Tissi, the Doyle School administrative assistant, who was unable to attend. "When you have your school nurse retire, you worry about who's going to keep them safe and healthy," the presenter said while thanking Manda for her years of service.
Teachers were similarly recognized: Miss Carla Saget was named the district’s Bergen County Teacher Recognition Program recipient for Woodridge Junior–Senior High School, and Laura Johnson and Erica Lindner were honored as building-level teacher awardees. The board read formal resolutions that credited the honorees for instructional skill, classroom climate and rapport with students.
The board also announced academic honors for the senior class: Naab Chuktai as valedictorian and Christopher Schweitzer as salutatorian. The superintendent and trustees congratulated graduating students and reminded the community of the final-day schedules and upcoming commencement events.
The recognitions preceded the board’s routine business agenda and a series of votes to approve minutes and a long slate of resolutions for the 2026–27 school year. The meeting adjourned after trustees completed the listed approvals.
