Officer Wilson recognized for rescue; council thanks police and fire for Vincent Avenue response

Police Chief Brian Zajac told council that the department’s lieutenants and sergeants named Officer Pistone the department’s 'Top Cop' for 2025 and named Officer Wilson the department’s 'Top OVI Cop' for 2025. Zajac also said Fox 8 News recognized Officer Wilson for his role entering the burning house on March 25 to help residents escape.
Fire Chief Jason Buss thanked Officer Wilson for his decisive action before the Fire Department arrived and praised Macedonia Dispatch, the Village Fire Department and the Village Police Department for handling the response admirably; he said he was glad everyone was OK and thanked mutual-aid partners.
Councilmember Nick Magistrelli later publicly thanked the Fire and Police Departments and Officer Wilson for their efforts at the Vincent Avenue incident.
