The Town of Beekmantown Town Board voted unanimously on June 1 to schedule a public hearing for a revised cell‑tower application in Point Au Roche.
Paul Male presented revised application materials (redlined insertions) and said the previously proposed parcel was not zoned for a tower; the paperwork was amended to locate the tower in a parcel that conforms with local zoning. The board approved Resolution No. 115‑26 to set a public hearing for July 6 at 6:00 p.m. (motion by Mr. Menard; second by Mr. Sand; roll call vote 5–0).
James LaValle of Young/Sommer told the board the application was updated compared with the February proposal to place the tower in the correct zoning district. Meeting participants said the taller structure could improve mobile service on Lake Shore Road and around the fire station and that a tower in Pointe Au Roche might also help other nearby towers function more effectively for emergency communications.
The public hearing will be the formal opportunity for residents to review the revised application, examine the siting rationale and raise concerns about aesthetics, setbacks or fall zones before the board considers final action.
