Tremont Select Board approves new assessing contract, flags program and routine actions

The Tremont Select Board on Nov. 17 approved a series of routine but consequential items, including a new municipal assessing contract, authorization of American-flag displays along Tremont Road and the signing of quitclaim deeds, and adopted its 2026 meeting schedule.
Why it matters: The assessing contract will govern property valuation services beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and through mid-2029; the flag program establishes an annual seasonal display on a main road; the quitclaim deeds resolve liens on several parcels, clearing titles for the named property owner.
At the meeting, the Board voted to withdraw from its current assessing contract with RJD and authorized Town Manager Jesse Dunbar to sign a contract with Caldwell Municipal Assessing & Consulting covering Jan. 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029. The motion was made by Select Board member Kevin Buck and seconded by McKenzie Jewett and passed unanimously.
The Board also authorized the Town Manager to purchase flag kits from World of Flags USA, in conjunction with the Galen Cole Family Foundation, for display on Tremont Road from Memorial Day through Labor Day. That motion was made by Vice Chair McKenzie Jewett, seconded by Kevin Buck, and approved unanimously.
On financial matters, the Board approved FY26 warrants in a single vote. The warrants approved were: #45 for $2,322.81; #46 for $16,853.45; #47 for $1,179.19; #48 for $185,318.99; #50 for $17,367.27; #51 for $17,813.85; #52 for $18,175.45; and #53 for $160,918.97. The motion to approve the warrants was made by Kevin Buck, seconded by Eric Eaton, and passed unanimously.
The Board appointed Stephen Scott to a Planning Board seat with term expiring June 30, 2026. The motion to appoint was made by Eric Eaton, seconded by McKenzie Jewett, and approved unanimously.
The Board also agreed to sign quitclaim release deeds to Jeffrey C. Rich for properties identified as Tax Map 003, Lots 015-2, 015B, and 015-4A after staff confirmed that assessed liens, fees and costs had been reversed. That motion was made by Eric Eaton, seconded by McKenzie Jewett, and passed unanimously.
Other routine items included adoption of the Select Board’s 2026 meeting schedule and the FY27 budget preparation calendar; both motions passed without opposition. The Board also adopted a resolution recognizing Tremont Consolidated School teacher Tonya Prentice for receiving the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award; that recognition was approved unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a motion by Chair Jamie Thurlow, seconded by Kevin Buck, to adjourn at 6:02 p.m. The next regular meeting was confirmed for Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Town Office.
