Residents raise safety concerns about low-hanging wire and sight-lines; board approves Common Folk events

During public comment at the Sept. 9 meeting, resident Tim Learned reported a non-electric wire hanging roughly 5–6 feet above Back Street and said Central Maine Power told him it was not their line. The board advised contacting FirstLight and Road Commissioner Per Tripp said he would contact the state about poor sight-lines near Bailey Road where bushes and trees reportedly endangered horse traffic.
Denise Hurd requested permission for Common Folk to use the Town Common for Halloween and Christmas events; the board approved the use (motion by Brian Mills; second by Justin Thacker). Hurd also asked about moving a small covered-bridge replica to the Common for holiday decorating; the board deferred a final decision and said it would follow up next week.
Transfer Station attendant Mark reported several drop-offs of materials with out-of-town stickers. The board discussed installing a sign at the Transfer Station gate clarifying that out-of-town materials are not accepted and agreed to post guidance on the town website; no sign installation motion was passed at the meeting.
Chair Brian Mills emphasized the board will follow up on the safety concerns and directed Per Tripp to contact the state regarding roadside trimming. The board also set a Solar Ordinance Moratorium committee meeting for Sept. 23, where planning discussions and public comments will continue.
The board adjourned after executive sessions and procedural business.
