The Andover Select Board voted Aug. 12 to send out anticipated highway bids for Sawyer Notch and South Arm culvert projects to obtain cost estimates, while noting funding for construction is not currently budgeted.
Road Commissioner Per Tripp and Chair Brian Mills told the board Sawyer Notch was the priority based on need. The motion to send both anticipated bids was amended and passed unanimously; the board emphasized that soliciting bids is intended to clarify costs rather than commit town funds for construction this fiscal year.
Chair Brian Mills also noted a scheduled FEMA Teams meeting for Aug. 13 to discuss mitigation for a Box Culvert washout on Cross Road and said limited mitigation funds are available. The board discussed signage and safety concerns related to a recent Planning Board approval for Lone Mountain Campground; Mills said he would raise signage and safety questions with the Planning Board.
The board’s actions initiate the procurement step to collect pricing information; the meeting did not authorize construction spending or award any contracts.
