Garfield County School District No. 16 board accepts FY2026 proposed budget, approves salary schedule and bond payments

The Garfield County School District No. 16 Board of Directors accepted the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget, approved district bond payments and adopted salary schedules and benefit packages for the 2025–2026 school year during its May 13, 2025 meeting.
Chief Financial Officer Chelsey Gerard presented the district bond payments for board approval; the motion to approve the payments carried on a roll-call vote. The board accepted the proposed FY2026 budget as presented by consensus.
The board approved the salary schedules and benefit package for 2025–2026. Board President Vincent T. Tomasulo said the superintendent’s evaluation is on file and described an addendum to the superintendent’s contract that will include a one-year roll clause, mileage reimbursement, 1.5% salary increase eligibility and eligibility for a longevity bonus. Tomasulo said he will work with district counsel Brent Case to finalize the addendum and to better align the superintendent-evaluation process with the budget process.
The board also approved a July 12, 2025, retreat at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. All motions passed by roll-call votes with Directors Baker, Gronewoller, Tomasulo and Whelan voting aye and Director Stewart absent. The board adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
