City Council approved first reading of Sunday alcohol-sales amendment; SARB briefed ahead of Nov. 17 final vote

Marketing Director Abigail deRoo updated the Shopping Area Redevelopment Board on Nov. 13 about the status of a proposed ordinance to allow Sunday alcohol sales.
DeRoo said the City Council held a public hearing on Oct. 20 during which opposition was voiced by members of the North Street Church community. She reported that the council approved the ordinance amendment on its first reading on Nov. 3 by a 6-1 vote and that the ordinance’s second and final reading is scheduled for Nov. 17, 2025. DeRoo thanked SARB members who participated in the hearing either in person or through written comments.
