Hallsville council approves January consent agenda and accepts 2024 racial profiling report

The consent agenda included the City Administrator’s report for January 2025, the Police Department summary and Fire Marshal report for January 2025, the Water Department summary for January 2025, the permit report for January 2025, January monthly financials, and the minutes of the Jan. 21, 2025 regular meeting and the Feb. 10, 2025 special called meeting. Alderman Brant Cain moved to approve the consent agenda as presented; Alderwoman Lauren Bresch seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the council reviewed the Police Department’s required 2024 racial profiling report. The minutes state that the report must be compiled and submitted under state law; Mayor Pro-Tem Gary Lovelace moved to accept and approve the report and submit it to the appropriate state agency, and Alderman Charlie Hunt seconded. That motion also carried unanimously.
The agenda materials reiterated that executive sessions are confidential and are governed by the Texas Open Meetings Act (Texas Government Code Sections 551.001–551.071 and related provisions), and noted that any formal action is taken in open session. No executive-session action is recorded in the minutes. Mayor Jesse Casey adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
