West Lafayette council adopts emergency appropriations, appoints police officer and creates new grant fund

Council members moved to suspend the three‑reading rule and adopt Resolution 2025‑41, the amendment to the 2025 permanent appropriation ordinance. The motion was seconded and recorded as adopted by the members present.
The council also moved to suspend the rules and adopt Resolution 2025‑42, formally appointing Abner King as a village police officer after King completed a six‑month probationary period. Council members congratulated the appointee; the measure passed on a voice/roll call recorded as affirmative by those voting.
Separately, the council voted to establish a new TCGM fund (Fund 252) to account for $100,000 in grant awards related to a project described as TCGM; officials said $50,000 of that award has been received to date. Adoption of Resolution 2025‑46 (establishing Fund 252) was expedited by suspending the rules and passed by the council.
The meeting also included procedural actions to accept amounts and rates as determined by the county budget commission (Resolution 2025‑39, second reading and emergency), and the council approved motions to pay the bills before adjourning.
