Williamson board adopts 2025–26 and 2026–27 budget resolutions and several fund appropriations

The Williamson Community Schools Board of Education on Tuesday approved multiple budget and fund resolutions for the district and authorized a tax-collection agreement with Meridian Township.

On a roll call vote, the board adopted the 2025–26 general fund appropriation, which the meeting transcript lists with total revenues of $27,542,323 and total available to appropriate of $34,519,112 and sets total appropriations and expenditures in the motion as read into the record. Board members voting “yes” in the roll call were Chris, Deborah, Heather, Nancy and Sarah.

The board also approved the 2026–27 general fund resolution. The transcript lists total 2026–27 revenues of $27,968,215 and total available to appropriate of $34,192,354; total appropriated/expenditures were read into the record and the resolution took immediate effect after unanimous roll-call approval.

Additionally, the board adopted the 2026–27 special revenue fund appropriation ($275,000), the food service fund appropriation (revenues listed as $926,000 and total appropriated $1,271,556) and the community services fund appropriation (revenues listed $614,800; total appropriated $724,783). Board members asked for and received clarification that some funds will draw down existing fund balances because expenditures exceed that year’s revenues in those funds.

On intergovernmental business, the board approved a resolution authorizing the Charter Township of Meridian to collect 2026 taxes on the district’s behalf, splitting collections half in summer and half in winter for 2026 and subsequent years; the district waived interest on the 2026 collection provided the township meets specified remittance dates.

All budget and fund resolutions were adopted by roll call; individual vote tallies and roll-call yes votes were recorded in the transcript for the general-fund motions.
