County administrator says Ogemaw County hazard-mitigation plan is 10 years overdue; RFP to be posted

Ogemaw County's hazard-mitigation plan is listed on FEMA's website as about a decade out of date, county Administrator Francine Zisk told commissioners, and the county must update the plan before pursuing certain FEMA grant matches.
"I was notified that our hazard mitigation plan is 10 years expired and is on FEMA's website were yellow marked as 10 years expired and it's supposed to be redone every 5 years," Zisk said. She told the board she would prioritize an update and bring an RFP for professional services to the committee of the whole so the county can regain compliance.
Zisk said she would not seek FEMA match funds until the plan is current. She described working with department heads to assemble documentation and recommended a master contract-tracking spreadsheet be developed so expiring agreements and millages do not lapse unnoticed.
Commissioners agreed the matter is urgent and supported beginning the procurement process to update the mitigation plan.
