Council approves purchase of 500 commemorative pins for Founders Day using lodging tax funds

At the Oct. 14 work session, Councilman Toolson reported the Travel and Tourism Board's recommendation to order 500 commemorative pins using lodging tax funds for the town’s Nov. 8 Founders Day celebration. Toolson moved to approve the purchase; Councilman Ellis seconded the motion, and the council approved it unanimously.
Toolson said the Friends of the Bridger-Teton lodging-tax grant program had been successful and that the Ranch Market is growing; the board is considering a winter market at the SVRA barn and additional promotional items such as commemorative hats and sweatshirts. Board member Vince Barbisan said vendors expressed interest in operating through winter. The council agreed to promote the November meeting to distribute pins and engage the community ahead of Founders Day.
Mayor Rok also noted that Councilman Toolson will need to recuse herself from liquor-license discussions and votes at the evening meeting, following Robert’s Rules procedures; Toolson may remain seated but must not participate in discussion or voting on those items.
Next steps: staff will order 500 pins per the board’s direction and promote the Nov. 8 meeting as a distribution point.
