Wallington Board of Health introduces two animal-related ordinances, approves routine reports

Patricia Barnas moved to approve the March 18, 2026 regular-session minutes as typed; Barbara Pinto seconded. The roll call vote recorded Barnas, Pinto and President Donna Tomko as aye; Rosemary Sandor abstained. Later, Barbara Pinto moved to approve the County of Bergen animal control reports; Rosemary Sandor seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Board Attorney William Fenwick read Ordinance No. 2026-001 by title, an amendment restricting animals in restaurants, supermarkets, grocery stores, delicatessens, bakeries and butcher shops. Rosemary Sandor moved to introduce Ordinance 2026-001; Patricia Barnas seconded. The roll call vote was Barnas, Pinto, Tomko and Sandor—aye. Fenwick also read Ordinance No. 2026-002 by title, requiring landlords who own five or more units to provide an annual census of dogs and cats residing on their properties; Barbara Pinto moved to introduce Ordinance 2026-002 and Rosemary Sandor seconded. The measure was introduced on a unanimous roll call.
The board also reviewed deposit and licensing revenue reports for March 2026, including registrar receipts totaling $440.00 and a license clerk/BOH deposit total of $7,390.00. Dog license receipts were listed as $458.00 for 26 dog licenses; cat licenses were $122.00 for 13 cat licenses. Handicap parking receipts were $75.00.
All procedural votes at the meeting were motions to introduce ordinances or to approve reports; no final adoptions of the ordinances were recorded. The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
