Castine Selectmen approve warrants, authorize hire of Community Economic Development Director and approve public event
Summary
On March 31 the Selectmen approved a General Fund warrant of $87,238.98 and a Water warrant of $3,721.27, approved a "Hands Off" event for April 5, entered executive session on personnel and authorized hiring Ina Schonberg as Castine's Community Economic Development Director (3-0 votes).
The Castine Selectmen voted unanimously March 31 on several routine and personnel matters, approving two warrants, granting permission for a public event on the Town Common and authorizing the Town Manager to hire a Community Economic Development Director.
Dan Leader moved and Amy Gutow seconded approval of the General Fund warrant for $87,238.98; the board voted 3-0. Town Manager Derik Goodine pointed out a large line item on the warrant: the remaining $40,000 payment for a new Fire Department vehicle. Goodine also noted he purchased a small trailer for the speed monitor from TEMU for about $328 versus an Amazon listing at about $600.
Leader moved and Gutow seconded approval of the Water warrant for $3,721.27; the board voted 3-0.
Resident Brooke Tenney asked to use the Town Common on Saturday, April 5 at 12 noon for a nationwide "Hands Off" event. Dan Leader moved to approve the request, Roberta Boczkiewicz seconded, and the board approved the permit 3-0, noting that opposing attendees would have to be allowed to speak as well.
The board entered executive session pursuant to Title 1 M.R.S.A.
