Oak Brook Park District adopts Chapter 1 updates with gender-neutral wording after public objections

Public commenters in the open forum — Ilene Briner, Ed Briner, Audrey Ridlen, Seamus Laird and Elaine Zannis — also voiced opposition to gender-neutral terminology in district materials and facilities.
The motion to approve the Chapter 1 updates passed by roll call vote (Ayes: Gondek, Ivkovic Kelley, Knitter; Nays: Chan and Vescovi). The ordinance regarding surplus personal property (Ordinance 26-0518) was also approved earlier in the meeting.
The board indicated it will continue incremental review of additional sections of the General Use Regulations (Sections 2–3) at a future meeting.
