The Oak Brook Park District Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Ron Gondek president and Commissioner Sharon Knitter vice president at its May 18, 2026 regular meeting in the Canterberry Room.
President Sharon Knitter nominated Ron Gondek for president; the motion passed by voice vote. Ivana Ivkovic Kelley nominated Sharon Knitter for vice president, and that motion also passed by voice vote, though Commissioners Tina Chan and Vescovi registered opposition during the vote.
President Knitter moved to reappoint Executive Director Dr. Laure Kosey as board secretary by tradition, a practice the board has followed in prior terms. Commissioners Chan and Vescovi stated their objections on the record; the motion to elect Dr. Kosey as secretary passed by roll call vote (Ayes: Gondek, Ivkovic Kelley, Knitter; Nays: Chan and Vescovi). A subsequent motion to elect Commissioner Tina Chan as secretary did not proceed because the first motion had prevailed.
Knitter nominated Ivana Ivkovic Kelley for treasurer and Commissioner Vescovi nominated Tina Chan. The motion to elect Ivkovic Kelley as treasurer passed by roll call vote (Ayes: Ivkovic Kelley, Gondek, Knitter; Nays: Vescovi and Chan). A second motion to elect Chan did not take place after the first motion carried.
The board set its next regular meeting for June 15, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
