Marion County commissioners approve consent items, reappoint advisory members and extend juvenile food contract

The Marion County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a consent agenda on Jan. 20 that included several routine appointments and administrative actions.

Among the consent items, the board approved reappointing John Caruso to the General Interest position on the North Santiam Watershed Council with a term ending Dec. 31, 2017. Caruso was introduced to the board by Matt Knudsen, who noted Caruso’s 15 years of service to watershed councils and more than 220 hours of recent community service. Caruso described prior work with the Bureau of Land Management and service on other watershed councils.

The board also approved Amendment #5 with Trinity Services I, LLC to extend the juvenile food services contract through Dec. 31, 2016 and to add $154,129.20 for food services. Other consent items included establishing a new Senior Human Resource Specialist classification (#078), authorizing a $18,003.84 property tax refund to Northwest Group, Inc., and designating the Woodburn Independent as the newspaper for publication of the 2016 tax foreclosure list.

Later in the meeting the board moved and approved an order reappointing Patrick O'Connor, Harvey Rogers, Laurie Steele and Jan Fritz to the Marion County Council of Economic Advisors with terms ending Dec. 31, 2017; Jerry Gray was noted as unable to serve because of scheduling conflicts. Commissioner Sam Brentano moved the reappointments and Commissioner Kevin Cameron seconded; the voice votes were unanimous.

These consent and appointment actions were taken by voice vote with both commissioners present.
