Marion County board confirms appointments to Children and Families Commission and Economic Development Advisory Board

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 approved consent items that included appointments and term adjustments for county advisory bodies.
Tamra Goettsch told the board that the department overseeing the Children and Families Commission and that Salem-Keizer Superintendent Perry recommended Ruth Gelbrich for the commission. Ruth Gelbrich introduced herself as Director of Student Services for Salem-Keizer Public School District 24J and said she has 38 years in education, including 22 years in the executive cabinet; she said she works with approximately 66 students with disabilities and oversees counseling and health services for the district.
The consent agenda approved an order appointing Ruth Gelbrich to the Marion County Children and Families Commission with a term ending Jan. 31, 2018, and an order to stagger terms for named commission members from June 30, 2018 to Jan. 31, 2017. The board also approved an order appointing Ian Tolleson to the Marion County Economic Development Advisory Board for a term ending June 30, 2019 and re-appointing Chad Freeman, Lesa Goff and Angie Morris with terms ending June 30, 2017. Commissioner Sam Brentano moved the consent agenda; Commissioner Kevin Cameron seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
No public hearings were held during the meeting and no further public comment on these appointments is recorded in the minutes.
