Baltimore Festival seeks proclamation for 50th anniversary; parks and pool updates provided

Shane Hamilton, director of the Baltimore Festival, asked the Village Council May 11 for a proclamation and a resolution recognizing the festival’s 50th anniversary and requested permission to set up a trailer and stage beginning July 26 for events scheduled Aug. 6–8, 2026.
Village Administrator Matthew Nihiser updated Council on parks and recreation activity: construction of the second nine holes of the Alt Park disc golf course is underway; an ODNR NatureWorks amendment approved shortening the Johnson Park walking path to a half mile and reducing restroom plans to a single all-accessible unit; pool staff have been hired for the summer and lifeguard certification is scheduled.
The VA also reported the Opera House doors have an estimated installation date of June 3. Council did not take a final vote on the festival proclamation that evening; the request and park updates were recorded in the minutes for follow-up by administration and relevant committees.
