Boothbay selectmen to put $1,800-to-$2,500 stipend increase on town meeting warrant

Selectmen agreed to place an article on the upcoming Town Meeting warrant proposing an increase of each selectman’s annual stipend to $2,500. The discussion did not include a final vote of the electorate; the change will be decided by voters at Town Meeting.
Manager Bryer said the stipend article will appear separately on the warrant rather than in the operating budget. He also said he would include the warrant language in the budget materials and remove it if voters reject the article.
