Village says waterline replacement request moving forward; V3 and Congressman’s office to assist

Village officials told the Service Committee on May 11 that the village’s waterline-replacement request has traction with the congressional office and state contacts. VA Matthew Nihiser reported the village received notice from Congressman Balderson’s office that it will advocate for the request; officials expect to know mid-summer what funding might be available.
Nihiser said consultant V3 is reaching out to the state to see whether the village can revise an existing loan to account for additional pavement and waterline work on the Rome side of town, noting Columbia Gas plans to replace gas lines and repave the street. V3 is also investigating a separate “Micro” situation to determine whether the village’s wellfield could be affected; the minutes record the inquiry is ongoing and outcomes are not yet known.
On wastewater, Nihiser said the Jacob study has been delayed by inclement weather and will be presented to Council in August rather than June. Committee members asked staff to follow up on permit activity for a property at Washington and High.
