Mills County certifies 2026 primary results, authorizes shredding of 2024 materials
Summary
Following a post-election audit filed by the election deputy, the Mills County Board approved the canvass of the 2026 primary and authorized shredding of 2024 primary voted materials in accordance with Iowa Code; ICAP renewal was tabled due to staff absence.
The Mills County Board of Supervisors on June 9 accepted the post-election audit and formally approved the canvass of the 2026 primary election.
Election Deputy Katie Dodge presented and filed the post-election audit report with the Board. Supervisor Jack Sayers moved to approve the canvass of the 2026 primary election; Supervisor Lonnie Mayberry seconded the motion and it passed 3–0.
The Board also voted to authorize shredding of 2024 primary voted election materials in accordance with Iowa Code; the motion passed unanimously. The meeting record notes that the shredding follows statutory retention schedules and will be handled by county election staff.
Separately, the Board tabled action on the county’s ICAP renewal because Aaron Aistrope, the individual responsible for the item, was unable to attend the meeting.
The Board adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
