Village seeks federal and STU funding for roadway, ADA and intersection safety work

Village staff said they will file applications this month for federal and STU funding to pay for resurfacing and safety work on Golden Rod, Eagle Ridge and Park Street South.
The Director told the board the applications will include ADA patching and intersection-focused safety work such as better alignment, sight-distance reviews and additional or advanced signage, because "there involve intersections that are safety concerning intersections" and meeting those conditions will strengthen the applications. A Committee member asked whether work would be limited to the section in front of a recent development; the Director said it will be in front of that section and may extend somewhat farther west depending on quantities and dollars.
Staff said the village is coordinating with a private developer, Terry Brown, on a related patching project tied to a planned turn-lane; the village will supply concrete to reduce the contractor unit price and expand the scope to fit available funds. The Director said quotes from the developer "look in favorable" and final details could be resolved later this month.
Public works maintenance plans also include MFT-funded concrete patching focused on Commercial Court near Walgreens and Jason Place by Market Bank and Trust to repair transverse joints ahead of future development, and preliminary parking updates on Board Drive and Walnut. Officials said ongoing permit work with the EPA will support future environmental compliance for project work.
