Town manager praises Public Works after winter storms; second sidewalk plow easing operations

Town Manager George O'Keefe on Jan. 8 publicly thanked the Public Works crew for their response to recent winter storms and noted that the addition of a second sidewalk plow made sidewalk clearing substantially easier.
Public Works representative Roberts told the board the department used about 10–12 truck loads of salt during the storms, reported an incident in which a car slid into a trash truck’s trailer causing tire damage, and said the department is temporarily down to two trailers while it seeks alternatives. Roberts said the second sidewalk plow was "great this week," and staff set up a sand program for elders so they do not have to provide their own buckets; a public pile of sand is also available inside the gate for residents to use.
O'Keefe also reported that the town has switched to a new IT company as of the meeting date.
The board expressed appreciation for the Public Works crew’s work during the storms; no formal votes were taken on equipment purchases during this meeting. The minutes record praise from both the town manager and Select Board member Christopher Brennick.
