Rumford select board approves three property sales, facade RFP and $1-per-year lease

The Town of Rumford Select Board on Jan. 8 approved the sale of three town-owned properties, authorized a downtown facade-improvement request for proposals and accepted a criminal forfeiture, while tabling several traffic and enforcement referrals.
The board accepted an offer of $28,000 for 29 Erchles Street (motion by DiConzo; seconded by Pepin), an $8,000 offer for 218 Pine Street (motion by Christopher Brennick; seconded by DiConzo) and a $19,500 offer for 229 Pine Street (motion by Christopher Brennick; seconded by DiConzo). All three property sales were approved unanimously, and the board authorized the Town Manager to sign the closing documents.
The board also approved the RFP for the Downtown Facade Improvement Grant (motion by Brennick; seconded by Theriault) by a 5-0 vote, signaling the municipality will move forward with soliciting applications for exterior building improvements intended to support downtown revitalization.
In a separate item the board accepted a criminal forfeiture from Oxford Court Unified Criminal Court (Doc. No. CR-24-30327) by motion of DiConzo, seconded by Pepin; the vote was 5-0.
A two-year lease for Inland Woods & Trails to occupy space at the Old Central Fire Station for $1.00 per year was approved by motion of Brennick and seconded by Capponi; the motion passed 3-2, with DiConzo and Theriault recorded as opposed.
Several traffic-control and enforcement items were tabled by unanimous votes after motions by Brennick and seconds by DiConzo. Those included consideration of a stop sign at Rumford Avenue and Hancock Street, creation of a 15-minute loading zone in front of 114 Hancock Street, and referral of Rule 80K violations, unpaid vacant-building fees and alleged illegal fire-escape ladders to the Town Attorney for possible court filing.
Minutes for Nov. 6 and Nov. 20, 2025 and Warrant #27 were approved earlier in the meeting (motions by Theriault; seconded by DiConzo); both passed 5-0.
The meeting record shows a final adjournment motion passed with a recorded vote of 3-1; the minutes do not name the individual votes for that tally.
