Eliot budget committee recommends FY27 budget articles totaling $11,415,787

The Town of Eliot Budget Committee on Feb. 25 recommended approval of Articles 3 through 10 of the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, a package totaling $11,415,787 in appropriations across town departments.
Chair Gene Wypyski opened the meeting and the committee approved the Feb. 11 minutes (motion by Vice Chair Jim Latter; seconded by Secretary Diane Holt) with a 5-0-1 vote; member Brad Swanson abstained because he had not attended the prior meeting. The committee then considered each budget article and voted on them individually.
The committee recommended approval by roll-call vote of: Article #3 — Administration, $3,139,149 (motion: Mr. Latter; second: Mr. Swanson); Article #4 — Fire Department, $642,395 (motion: Mr. Swanson; second: Ms. Darr); Article #5 — Police Department, $1,739,954 (motion: Ms. Holt; second: Mr. Latter); Article #6 — Public Works, $1,541,500 (motion: Ms. Darr; second: Mr. Ammons); Article #7 — Recreation, $492,342 (motion: Mr. Ammons; second: Ms. Holt); Article #8 — Fiscal Operations, $884,758 (motion: Ms. Darr; second: Mr. Ammons); Article #9 — Capital & Reserve Funds, $1,215,000 (motion: Ms. Holt; second: Ms. Darr); and Article #10 — Sewer Department, $1,760,689 (motion: Mr. Swanson; second: Ms. Holt). Each article’s motion passed by unanimous recorded votes among members present for that vote.
Chair Wypyski asked the Recording Secretary to draft and send a memo to the Town Manager summarizing the committee’s recommendations for the Select Board; the Recording Secretary agreed to send the memo.
The committee adjourned at 6:40PM after a motion by Mr. Latter and second by Mr. Swanson that passed 6-0.
