At the Oct. 21 Select Board meeting, members discussed options to improve the ball field property line and replace or repair fencing. The minutes list three options: vinyl panels (six-by-six, 31 panels) with materials estimated at about $2,015 plus posts, cement and labor; wood pressure-treated panels (six-by-eight, 23 panels) with materials estimated at about $1,564 plus ancillary costs; and a lower-cost approach sourcing rough-cut lumber from Timber Ridge or using rolls of fencing. The minutes record that Chris had not yet priced rough-cut lumber and that Select Board member Tim suggested a low-cost option using fencing rolls. The board asked to revisit the item at budget time.
Separately, the board discussed the town’s three-year mowing contract and noted that perpetual-care lots require twice-yearly weeding versus weekly weeding for other areas. The contract cost figure of $41,000 was described in the minutes as "tough to swallow," and the board deferred final action to the Nov. 18 meeting. The minutes also include a brief discussion about the dump trailer — Carlene and Ed expressed a preference to repair and retain it — and a plan to park equipment where newly-installed cameras can monitor it.
The board tabbed proposed uses of ARPA funds for Nov. 18 and left additional budgeting decisions for the forthcoming budget process leading up to the March 15, 2025 town meeting.
