Sinton council unanimously awards engineering contract to Ardurra to prepare TxCDBG application

SINTON, Texas ' At a special City Council meeting March 24, the Sinton City Council voted 4-0 to award Ardurra an engineering services contract to prepare the city's 2025-2026 Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) application.

City Manager John Hobson told the council the city received six sets of qualifications for the project, including two submissions from firms based in Corpus Christi and one each from Seguin, Helotes, Jourdanton and Pleasanton. "Ardurra was rated slightly higher due to their familiarity with our existing system, which will be important moving forward," Hobson said, and he recommended the council approve Ardurra to prepare the grant application and, if the grant is awarded, to perform the subsequent engineering work.

Councilmember Nathan Lindeman moved to award the contract to Ardurra; Mayor Pro Tem Greg Ybarra seconded. The motion carried 4-0. The minutes record the vote tally as 4-0 but do not list individual yea/nay votes by name.

The TxCDBG program is a state-administered grant source for community development projects; the council's action at this meeting authorizes staff to engage the recommended engineering firm to prepare the city's application. The engineering contract described by staff would only proceed if the TxCDBG application is funded.

Mayor Mary Speidel called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. City Secretary Angela Montemayor attested the minutes. After the award motion passed, Lindeman moved to adjourn, Ybarra seconded, and the council adjourned following a second 4-0 vote.
