The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors on May 11 approved multiple personnel actions, accepted a list of Medical Examiner transport drivers and set a work session on county security cameras and access.
Supervisor Tom Clark called the meeting to order and the board unanimously approved the agenda and the minutes from May 4 by motion (26.184). Auditor/Clerk Denise Beyer recommended hiring Jacob Smith as a temporary part-time lawn-mowing employee; the board approved the hire effective May 5, 2026, at $15.00 per hour on motion 26.185 (moved by Supervisor Keatley, seconded by Supervisor Byrnes). The board also approved a presented list of Medical Examiner transport drivers — Troy Gress, Drake Tilson and Troy Hill — by motion 26.186 (moved by Supervisor Byrnes, seconded by Supervisor Keatley).
County Engineer Brian Ridenour asked to hire a seasonal part-time employee; the board approved hiring Peggy Sivesind effective May 26 at $17.00 per hour on motion 26.187 (moved by Supervisor Keatley, seconded by Supervisor Byrnes). During general updates, Department Head Corey Snitker reported on recent meetings, events and legislation. Ridenour reminded supervisors of an English Bench #4 watershed viewing scheduled following the meeting. Sheriff Clark Mellick updated the board on remaining electrical work for a county water system project and reminded motorists to watch for farm implements on highways this time of year. Auditor Beyer reported on budget certifications and election worker training and reminded the board of upcoming off-site meetings.
The board discussed security cameras and access and set a work session for May 21 at 8:30 a.m. for further consideration and planning. The meeting adjourned after a unanimous motion to adjourn (26.188).
