Bremen selectmen award emergency responders, approve warrants and a $14,560 tree-growth supplemental

BREMEN, Maine — The Bremen Board of Selectmen on April 3 presented Shape awards to the Bremen Fire Department and Bremen First Responders and approved a set of financial and tax matters, including a $14,560 supplemental warrant tied to tree-growth removal on a private parcel.
Steve Greeley of the Maine Department of Labor read the Shape award definition and presented the awards, saying, "Congratulations to both departments on achieving this Status." The recognitions acknowledged local emergency services' work and training.
Ann Nesslage of the BCC reported continued work marking invasive plants and asked to set up an informational table at the Town Center to display examples. She also requested a dog-waste container with bags be placed at the Hilton O'Connor property similar to the unit at the Hay Property.
The board reviewed three cover options for the annual town report and invited residents to submit suggestions by mail or email; the Selectmen will choose a final cover at their April 17 meeting.
On procedural business, Chair Wendy Pieh moved and Selectman Steve Page seconded a motion to approve warrants dated March 28, April 2 and April 4, 2025, along with the minutes of March 20, 2025. The board voted 3-0 to approve the motion.
Selectman John "Boe" Marsh moved and Selectman Page seconded to approve an abatement dated April 3, 2025, intended to correct a prior supplemental tax charge for removal from tree growth that had been assessed to the wrong property owner; the board voted 3-0 to approve the abatement.
In a separate motion, Selectman Marsh moved and Selectman Page seconded approval of a supplemental warrant dated April 3, 2025, charging $14,560.00 for removal from tree growth on Map 010-Lot 002, where owners are listed as Corey Digirolamo and Andrew Warren. The board voted 3-0 to approve the supplemental warrant.
Chair Pieh moved to adjourn the meeting; Selectman Page seconded, and the board adjourned at 5:18 p.m.
