Bremen authorizes up to $60,000 for Town Landing dock repairs; DEP permit in process

The Bremen Board of Selectmen voted on Feb. 20, 2025, to authorize spending of up to $60,000 for repairs at Town Landing to address structural issues and bank stabilization. The motion, made by Selectman John "Boe" Marsh and seconded by Selectman Steve Page, passed 3-0.
Tom Papell of the Harbor Committee presented an estimate from Lester Anderson that includes replacing pilings, removing and replacing rotted wood, adding bracing beneath the dock and placing rip-rap along the bank for stabilization. Papell told the board the stabilization work requires a PBR (permit by rule) and that the DEP permitting process is underway.
The board recorded the authorization to expend up to $60,000 to complete the necessary work. The Harbor Committee and road commissioners will coordinate next steps, including permitting and contractor selection. The office will track the DEP PBR outcome before work begins.
