Sinton approves 2026 street maintenance list, shifts to mill-and-overlay and awards engineering and generator contracts

The Sinton City Council on March 17 approved the city's 2026 Street Maintenance List, authorized an engineering-services contract for the program and awarded a generator installation bid for the water and wastewater treatment plants.
City Manager John Hobson recommended a change in pavement treatment from chip sealing to mill-and-overlay for several narrow streets behind City Hall between Vineyard Avenue and the railroad tracks; the approach calls for reclaiming about one foot along roadway edges where necessary. Hobson said the city has $400,000–$450,000 budgeted for the project, plus about $220,000 in a street reserve account, which should cover the expected costs.
The council approved the list 4-0. The streets identified for work included (excerpted from the submitted list) N Luque, N Russ, N Scofield, N Kohler, E Fulton, Main, S Luque, Alamo, E Merriman and Hamilton. The agenda noted square-yard estimates for each segment.
The council also awarded an engineering services contract to Ardurra under the city's continuing arrangement; for the last three years Ardurra has billed the city a flat rate of $25,000 to cover inspections, design, bid documents and related services, and staff recommended continuing that practice for 2026. Finally, Ardurra project manager Hector Castaneda reported the low bid on generators under the GLO MIT MOD contract was from Able Petroleum Landman Services and recommended award; council approved that award 4-0.
Those actions clear the way for the city to bid/contract construction and to begin scheduling inspections and related oversight work.
