Rene and Alma Garcia told the Sinton City Council on Jan. 20 that their garbage at 613 E. George is not being picked up by Republic Services because pickup trucks cannot access the alley off Sodville near the railroad tracks.
The Garcias said a former code enforcement officer recommended placing their cans in an area on Sodville where trucks could reach them, but a renter now occupying that spot is concerned trash could end up in the renter's yard. They told the council the situation has persisted and they sought the council's assistance.
City Manager John Hobson said he is familiar with the area and would contact the route manager for Republic Services to try to correct the issue. The minutes do not record additional details, a timeline for action, or a follow-up report to the council at this meeting.
