Tom Mike Schock, finance manager for the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, briefed Beachwood council on the agency’s services, its 20‑year levy history and local impact.
Schock said two‑thirds of the board’s roughly $180,000,000 budget comes from a 3.9‑mill continuous levy passed in 2005. He described services funded by the levy — early intervention for children birth to 3, therapies (occupational, physical and speech), school consultative services, transition services for young adults, housing and employment supports, and assistive-technology services — and said the board served 163 Beachwood residents last year and about 15,000 people across Cuyahoga County.
Schock also said the board has made nearly $1,000,000 in community grants since 2021 to help local libraries, arts/culture and recreation organizations make programs and facilities more accessible. He said $180,000 in community grants have been awarded so far this year.
Schock closed by offering to meet with local staff and residents to discuss further support and outreach.
