Cabell County Commission approves CCEMS personnel assignment, personnel changes and budget revisions

During a reconvened session at 10:22 a.m., Tammy Edwards of the Cabell County Sheriff’s Tax Department asked whether recent changes to the county’s sick-leave policy applied to all county employees or only to those employed directly by the commission. County Attorney William Watson replied that the policy “was effective for every employee in every office,” clarifying its countywide application.
The board approved County Budget Revision #14 and State Budget Revision #7 (Exhibits C and D), and placed several public-service-district minutes on the record. Commissioners also approved a resolution on assigned use of county vehicles (Exhibit A) and appointed Connie L. Priddy to the Appalachian Emergency Medical Services (AEMS) Board, with A. Gordon Merry reappointed; both terms end April 27, 2019.
Routine administrative approvals at the start of the meeting included the agenda, a set of purchase orders and pay jackets, erroneous assessments, land consolidations, split tickets, probate documentation, and minutes from several prior meetings. The commission approved handwritten checks to Guardian and Mutual of Omaha not to exceed $100,000 and authorized ACH drafts for weekly claims and administration costs as presented.
Gordon Merry, director of CCEMS, asked commissioners to accompany him outside to view a gift to CCEMS from St. Mary’s Medical Center; the commission recessed at 10:05 a.m. and reconvened at 10:22 a.m. President Anne Yon reminded attendees that early voting had begun and runs through May 7, 2016. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
