CCERC asks Cabell County Commission for landline tariff increase, warns of layoffs

Mike Davis, director of CCERC (the county 911 center), asked the Cabell County Commission on May 12, 2016, to approve a higher telephone tariff for county landlines. Davis told commissioners the proposal would increase the tariff by $2.50 for residential lines and $3.00 for business lines to help cover rising medical insurance costs.
Davis warned that without the additional revenue the center would be forced to lay off five full-time employees and two part-time employees. The commission unanimously approved a motion by Commissioner Nancy Cartmill, seconded by Commissioner Robert L. Bailey, to set a public hearing on the tariff for May 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.
The tariff request was presented during the agenda item labeled "Telephone Tariff." Commissioners later approved a Special Funds budget revision for CCERC (911) (#3) during the same meeting. The May 26 public hearing will provide an opportunity for public comment before any tariff change is adopted.
