Eddington resident urges RSU 63 to adopt anti-bullying action plan; superintendent proposes workshop

Morgan Downs, an Eddington resident, used the public comment period at the July 15 RSU 63 board meeting to request that the board develop a districtwide action plan addressing bullying. Downs cited statistical information about bullying in the United States and described first-hand experiences within the district, urging the board to respond with a formal plan.
Superintendent Jared Fulgoni later recommended that the board hold a workshop in August to orient new members and to begin setting goals and direction for the district; he said the workshop will include a presentation of the board’s role and responsibilities and how the board can assist in leading the district and having a positive impact. The minutes do not record a formal directive to create an anti-bullying policy on the spot.
Board Chair Linda Graban and other members heard the comment during the public comment portion of the meeting; there was no recorded vote or formal motion tied to the request. The board accepted the Budget and Finance Committee and Superintendent’s reports by motion (8-0) during the meeting.
The minutes show the board plans to meet next on Aug. 26, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Holbrook Middle School; the workshop date recommended by the superintendent is to be set in August.
