Superintendent Jared Fulgoni called the RSU 63 Board of Directors to order at 6:33 p.m. on June 24 at Holden Elementary School and welcomed three new board members. The board elected Linda Graban as board chair by a 7–0 roll-call vote.
Cherie Faulkner was nominated for vice chair and was elected in a contested vote: the roll call recorded five votes in favor, one opposed (Board member Amy Hart voted for Rachel Downs), and one abstention (Faulkner). After the vote, Graban assumed duties as chair and Faulkner as vice chair.
The board used the meeting to organize its committees. Members Derrick Robertson, Brittany Wood and Cherie Faulkner were elected to the Budget & Finance Committee. Faulkner and Robertson volunteered and were elected as Budget & Finance warrant officers. Board members accepted the written and verbal Budget & Finance and Superintendent reports by a unanimous vote.
Chair Graban asked staff to prepare a presentation explaining the social and emotional learning graphic that appeared in the Curriculum Committee minutes from June 10, 2024.
The board discussed scheduling and agreed to hold a July meeting on July 15, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Eddington School after an earlier proposed date presented conflicts.
The meeting opened with recognition remarks: Graban congratulated the graduating eighth-grade class and acknowledged Don Spencer, the elementary school principal, for his years of service and retirement.
The board is set to reconvene July 15 to continue regular business and hear the requested curriculum presentation.
